Community Engagement

The Danville-Alamo-Walnut Creek Branch of AAUW (DAW) actively engages with our community, which is an important goal of our branch. We place a priority on collaborating with other local organizations that share common goals and are committed to equity for all.

Our most important resource is our membership, who continually demonstrate their commitment by supporting DAW projects, helping the branch collaborate with other local organizations, and by being individually involved and active in many other local organizations.

Below are highlights of our key project areas and information about our branch collaborations and member involvement.

DAW Branch Community Projects

DAW Third Thursday Community Programs

DAW hosts a series of evening programs throughout the year, held in Danville, that that are open to the public and feature speakers on important topics impacting our community. When scheduled, meetings occur on the third Thursday of the month.

DAW School Board Project

Branch members regularly attend SRVUSD board meetings as a group to support the district’s commitment to quality education, critical thinking skills, open mindedness, equity, and inclusion and to stand up to intolerance.

DAW Tech Trek STEM Camp

Every year, DAW sends 12 or more middle school girls from San Ramon Valley and Walnut Creek school districts who are entering 8th grade to AAUW’s Tech Trek STEM summer camps at California college campuses.

DAW Local Scholarships

DAW offers three categories of scholarships for local women, former foster youth, and single parents who are enrolled in accredited college, university, or technical schools. Each scholarship is an award of $2,000 or more.

DAW May Garden Tour

Our May Garden Tour is a popular, much loved and highly anticipated annual event that attracts some 500+ people a year. Monies raised through the sale of Garden Tour tickets fund our community projects.
