Community Mission Projects
Scholarships for Local College Students
Our branch has provided over $156,000 in scholarships from 2011 to 2024 to help local women complete their degree programs. Consideration for all scholarships includes financial need, special circumstances such as first-generation college students, academic record, and community participation.
AAUW DAW Branch Community Local Scholarship, given to individuals who identify as women who either attended high school in Danville, Alamo or Walnut Creek, are current residents of these areas, or work in these areas.
AAUW DAW Branch Renaissance Scholarship, given to individuals who identify as women in the Cal State East Bay Renaissance Scholars Program, which supports former foster youth at CSUEB.
AAUW DAW Branch Single Parent Scholarship, given to single parents attending Diablo Valley College.
Tech Trek Camperships
Tech Trek is an AAUW program that sends middle school girls to attend a week-long summer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) camp. We work with math and science teachers at our six local middle schools to identify girls with strength in math and science who would benefit from this wonderful camp. DAW branch members also participate as dorm moms, daily helpers, and guest speakers. Click here to find out more about Tech Trek.
It costs our branch $500 – $1,200 for each camper we sponsor to go to the Tech Trek STEM camp, depending on whether they attend the Virtual Camp or one of the in-person camps at a university. Please consider supporting this amazing and effective program. Scroll down to see how to donate!
Community Education Programs
AAUW Danville-Alamo-Walnut Creek provides educational programs throughout the year for the public.
AAUW National Fund
At the National level, AAUW Fund provides support for post-graduate fellowships and grants, research reports, and legislative advocacy. In the 2023-24 award year AAUW Fund provided more than $6 million in funding to 185 fellows and grantees. A gift to AAUW Greatest Needs Fund puts your donation to work where it is most needed to support the national AAUW agenda.
